FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What should I do if I’m interested in one of your properties?

Call or email us for information and for a private showing. To get things going in the meantime, please fill out our online application here.

Where and when is the Real Estate Store open?

Our office is located at the intersection of Lake St. and US-2 in Ironwood, Michigan. Our office hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. We are closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and most Federal Holidays, with rare exceptions.

How do I get my keys and move in?

As soon as your application has been approved, you must pay the security deposit for the property. On the day you sign your lease, you will be expected to also pay all the fees for the property (depending on the property, this could include rent, nominal key deposits, utility deposits, and required, nonrefundable pet fees). Keys will only be provided once the lease is signed, rent and all other fees are paid.

When is my rent due?

Rent is due in our office by 5pm on the first of every month. Please refer to your lease for all terms and late fees. You may bring your rental payment into the office during office hours, drop after-hours payments in our drop box at the front door of our office, mail payments, or make payments online. Allow extra time for mailed payment to arrive on time. Bounced checks incur a $35 fee in addition to any standard late fees already incurred by a late payment and will require all future payments to be made in certified funds (i.e. cashier’s checks, cash or money orders).

What should I do if I want to change a name on my lease?

Once a lease is signed, a tenant may only be removed from the agreement with a written document releasing the tenant from his/her interest in the property including the security deposit AND MUST be signed by all parties of the lease, including The Real Estate Store.

What should I do if I want to get a pet?

All pets must be approved by the landlord. Tenant must submit and pass the pet application, review and sign the pet policy, and pay nonrefundable pet fees associated with the pet.

I have an issue at my property and need a repair. How do I do that?

Please call the office number (906) 932-5406 and let us know the details or submit a request on our tenant portal. If it is a safety emergency after hours, you will need to call 911 for immediate assistance. Then call The Real Estate Store and leave a message to describe the issue.

My lease is ending and I am making plans to move. What do I do?

YOU MUST GIVE A 30-DAY NOTICE of your intention to not renew your lease. You must vacate your unit completely on or before your lease expiration date, no exceptions. Keys must be returned to our office or the agent conducting your move-out inspection. Tenant MUST provide forwarding address in order to receive deposits back. Our move-out procedures are in your lease and tenant handbook and will assist you in leaving your unit in move-in ready condition.
