As a young man, my dreams carried me North from Delafield, Wisconsin away from the Kettle Moraine to college at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for resource management and business. Then, I traveled further North to play in the snow of Upper Michigan.

That was over 45 years ago. I fell in love. The skiing, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and boating were wonderful. I met my wife, Janice, at Big Powderhorn Mountain while skiing. After we married, we had fun moving around the Powderhorn Village building and remodeling chalets and starting our little real estate company. At that time, I was an insurance salesman and traveled all over the tri-state area. It really helped me learn about people, their needs, and their communities. In 1985, I got out of the insurance business and joined Janice in the real estate industry. I got licensed in Michigan and Wisconsin. We also decided to have a child and raise her here. She joined our company, married a nice man, and they gave us a beautiful grandchild.

Throughout the years, I experienced traditional U.P. camp life provided by Janice's family. It was there that I learned a lot about the woods, wildlife and myself. I passed the traditions of deer camp to my daughter, Ellen, along with waterfowl hunting from my childhood back in the Horicon Marsh with my father and brother. My hobbies grew to include boating on Lake Superior, golfing, and writing poetry. My poem, “Did You Ever” was published in one of Amy J. Van Ooyen's books, A U.P. Deadend Road Never Ends. It expresses my feelings for the beautiful Superior region. UP North is my home. The snow is still great, the woods ever changing, and the boating on Lake Superior awesomely challenging.

My life experiences have helped me become a great REALTOR and now Associate Broker. My resource management background from college helps me identify valuable vacant land parcels. My hunting experiences have made me comfortable in the woods. I have become a good listener through my work with diverse people while selling insurance. I enjoy finding commercial properties for other businesses locating to this area. I love making new contacts and helping them follow their dreams UP North to call this area home, as I do. It is fun to sell recreational properties at ski resorts, golf courses, inland lakes, and Lake Superior. I listen to your needs as a seller or a buyer.

I like being active in our community. The Ironwood Economic Development Commission, Brownfield Commission, Ironwood Planning Commission, Ironwood City Parks and Recreation Committee, Lake Superior Watershed Initiative, Rotary, and my church council are a few groups I devoted time to over the years. I served as a US Coast Guard Auxiliary member as a Flotilla Commander. I am now serving on the Upper Peninsula Board of Realtors.
